Salary / Stipend

Rs. 9,600 per month for ITI trades; non-ITI trades (Crane Operator, Forger & Heat Treater, Rigger) get lower slabs, roughly Rs. 3,400 to Rs. 9,020 by period.

Reservation Rules

SC, ST and OBC seats follow the Apprentices Act reservation provisions. Unfilled reserved seats are filled from other categories in the same year rather than carried forward. Persons with at least 40% disability and children of armed forces personnel or ex-servicemen each get 3% horizontal seats. If a trade lacks enough qualified candidates, seats may move to other trades on merit, capped at 25% above the published number.

Ineligible Applicants and Accommodation

Current apprentices and those in the three-month gap after ending a contract cannot apply, though women face no waiting period. Anyone who has completed two apprenticeships is excluded. Karwar offers limited hostel space for outstation male candidates on a first-come basis, while Goa has no hostel.

Mode of Selection

  1. Preliminary merit list based on 10th and ITI marks (8th for Rigger)
  2. Shortlisting for written test at 1:20 per vacancy
  3. 100-mark OMR written exam at Karwar in January 2027, 40% qualifying, no negative marking
  4. Final merit list and document verification
  5. Medical fitness and police verification at joining

How to Fill the Form

  1. Check that name, date of birth and father's name on Aadhaar match the 10th (or 8th for Rigger) certificate.
  2. Register on apprenticeshipindia.gov.in, activate the profile from the emailed link and log in with OTP.
  3. Complete the profile with date of birth proof, qualifications, trade preference, bank details and Aadhaar validation.
  4. Under Apprenticeship Opportunities, search for Naval Dockyard Karwar, apply for your matching trade and select Uttara Kannada.
  5. Print the candidate profile, attach self-attested documents and the undertaking, and send by speed or registered post to the Officer-in-Charge, Dockyard Apprentice School, Karwar 581308 within 30 days of publication.
